Tom Rocket’s gay magazine covers everything beyond the practice guides. From penis shapes through pornstars to the history of glory holes: body knowledge, scene vocabulary, dating and queer culture take the place of instructions.

The largest section is called Miscellaneous, and it gathers what fits nowhere else, from penis shapes to the pornstars of the year. Anyone looking for instructions instead finds them with the practices, for instance under Side and Fucking & Anal.

Body, scene, dating and history: the topics of this gay magazine

Beyond the practices, other things matter to gay men, and those are the subject here: the body itself, scene vocabulary, relationship models, queer history, porn culture and events. 8 sections organise the magazine, and each one has its own focus.

Techniques, positions, gear and hygiene for the individual practices are found instead under Fucking & Anal, Side, Fisting, BDSM, Fetish & Kink, Poppers and Health; BDSM stands for bondage, dominance, sadism and masochism.

Miscellaneous: body topics, porn culture and scene knowledge

Miscellaneous gathers the most searched subjects here. They deal with the body itself, with porn culture and with sex tech.

Section names say little about what is inside. Miscellaneous is where gay pornstars, penis names, going commando and penis shapes end up.

Beyond those 4, the section covers a broad mix. VR sex asks how far VR (virtual reality) replaces a partner. Pornosexual notes that the term barely appears in scientific literature. Gay lifestyle beyond sex gets its share too, in Gay Films, The History of Sex Toys and Nudism.

Porn culture, and who tops the yearly rankings

Gay Pornstars tracks who is currently on top, following Pornhub’s yearly ranking, published every December. For 2025 Tyler Wu heads the list, followed by Malik Delgaty, Sandro Jenner, Rhyheim Shabazz and Jkab Ethan Dale. A year earlier Malik Delgaty held first place for the second year running, ahead of Tyler Wu, Hunnypaint, Cade Maddox and Rhyheim Shabazz.

How fast such rankings turn over is clear from the 2023 comparison. Of the 10 names on that list, only Tyler Wu and Rhyheim Shabazz were still in the top 5 two years later. In all, the article profiles 14 men.

Malik Delgaty, born in 2000, describes himself as heterosexual, which makes him a well-known example of gay for pay. Rhyheim Shabazz, born in 1981, founded his own studio in 2023. On the working side, How Porn Actors Stay Hard describes shooting days of up to 12 hours along with the use of so-called fluffers. Making money on your own terms is the subject of Starting on OnlyFans.

Penis names, shapes and the tape measure

3 articles cover the same body part from 3 angles. Penis Names treats the nicknames as euphemisms for a word long held taboo and gives the anatomical term membrum virile.

Penis Shapes breaks the shapes into 13 sections of their own. Among them are mushroom-shaped, big girth, thin, circumcised, uncircumcised, curved upwards, curved downwards and micropenis. One heading tackles the myth of giant penis shapes, another covers warning signs worth a doctor’s appointment.

Measure Penis gives the measurements. An erect penis averages 13.12 cm in length and 11.66 cm in girth, from the Veale nomogram study of 2015 with up to 15,521 men. That puts 20 cm around 4 standard deviations above the mean. Research treats the bone-pressed method as the reliable one, and girth rather than length is the figure for buying condoms. Around 26 % of men are growers, measured across 274 participants.

Going commando, and what the numbers say

Freeballing states plainly that going commando counts as a clothing decision rather than a sex act or a fetish.

Numbers come from YouGov, which polled 34,025 adults in the United States in September 2023 on how often they go commando while awake. 7 % answered “always”, 10 % “often”, 18 % “sometimes” and 19 % “rarely”, while 40 % reported keeping underwear on throughout. A further 6 % declined to answer. Two limits apply to that survey. Its sample covers all adults rather than men alone, and the question asks about waking hours, which separates day from night. An older survey by the same firm in the United Kingdom, on a different question, came out at 2 %. Nights feel easier for a measurable reason. Scrotal skin temperature runs at a median of 33.3 degrees Celsius by day and 34.8 at night, because duvet and mattress trap the heat.

    Dating, relationship and love

Dating, Relationship & Love covers sexting, threesomes, escorts and relationship models. Threesomes explains expectations, safety, roles, feedback and how to find a third person.

Relationship models get their own texts. Polycule sets the term apart from polyamory and walks through structures such as the V, the triad and the quad. Photos and their pitfalls are the subject of Sexting and Dickpics. Alongside them come FtMs, the Quickie and Erogenous Zones.

Queer History: a hole in a wall with a court record from 1707

The piece that reaches furthest back in Queer History is The Glory Hole, a fixture rather than an anniversary. The expression predates its sexual meaning. Records show it as a junk room since 1825, from 1849 as the reheating opening in glassblowing, in sailors’ language as a storeroom.

Its oldest documented case dates from 1707. The trial record “Tryals of Thomas Vaughan and Thomas Davis” deals with an incident at the Temple Bog-House in London, a public privy. The record describes how one of those involved pushed his member through a hole in the partition from the next cubicle. That encounter was a staged trap. Vaughan, Davis and their accomplices ran organised blackmail with the threat of a false sodomy charge. The court sentenced all of them to the pillory and a whipping.

As an established scene term the glory hole first appears in print in 1949, in the glossary of Swasarnt Nerf’s “Gay Girl’s Guide”. In 1984 San Francisco closed its bathhouses. And in 2020 the health authority of British Columbia named barriers such as walls in its Covid guidance. The stated reason was that they allow sexual contact while keeping faces apart. This section also holds a profile of Erika Lust, a pioneer of feminist porn.

Gay Wiki: the vocabulary of the scene

Definitions are collected in the Gay Wiki. Two entries stand out, DILFs and Daddies and Hanky Codes. A hanky code, also called flagging, signals sexual interests through colour, and the side it is worn on marks the role.

House rules get their own entries too, among them Darkroom Etiquette. It sorts clothing, signals, communication and safety into 4 questions. The full vocabulary list including pride days is collected in the section archive.

Events and community topics in the magazine

Two more sections cover dates and places. Events holds the dates, among them Drag Queen Day. The rest are commemorative days such as Pansexual Day and World Men’s Day.

Society & Community covers society and everyday life. It deals with homophobia, coming out at work, faith and rural life.

Common questions about Tom Rocket’s gay magazine

What is Tom Rocket’s gay magazine?

Tom Rocket’s gay magazine bundles body knowledge, scene life, dating, queer history and porn culture, everything beyond the instructions. For the practice itself, from anal sex to poppers, you jump to Fucking & Anal, Side, Fisting, BDSM, Poppers and Health. Among gay blogs, Tom Rocket’s gayblog takes the editorial side, and as a gay sex magazine it handles the body-related topics around it.

Which sections does this gay magazine have?

8 sections organise the magazine, from Miscellaneous and Dating to Queer History and the Gay Wiki. The largest is Miscellaneous with the body and porn topics, then Dating, Relationship & Love, Events and Queer History. Identity & Self-Image, Society & Community, the Gay Wiki with the scene vocabulary and Experiences of queer people follow.

Which article in this gay magazine gets read the most?

Gay Pornstars is the most-read piece. It follows Pornhub’s yearly ranking and profiles 14 of the men on it. Penis Names treats the nicknames as euphemisms for a word long held taboo, and going commando covers the choice to skip underwear. All 3 are in Miscellaneous, together with the penis shapes.

Where does this gay blog cover sex techniques?

Techniques are covered in the 6 specialist archives: Fucking & Anal, Side, Fisting, BDSM, Fetish & Kink, Poppers and Health. This gay magazine handles everything around them instead, meaning body knowledge, scene vocabulary, relationship models and history. Articles that touch both worlds appear in both archives.

Does this gay magazine still publish new articles?

Yes. New pieces keep arriving, most recently in August 2026, and each one lands in the section that matches its subject, from body topics to queer history. Events and commemorative days bring the most regular additions, because the calendar supplies new dates every year.
